Scrip is the school's number one fundraiser, and it cost you nothing!
SCRIP is an acronym that stands for “Substitute Cash Redeem In Person.” It is a generic terms used to describe a non-profit fundraiser program which allows our school to purchase retail gift cards at a discount, in bulk, and resell them for face value to anybody willing to participate. The gift cards are then used by people in place of cash, check or credit card at the retailer. It is the only fundraiser we offer that earns money for the school, but requires no expenditure beyond what you would already be spending for things such as gas, groceries, home repairs, eating out, traveling, etc. The possibilities are numerous!
Here's How It Works:
St. Peter School buys gift cards from hundreds of retailers at a discount. We offer hundreds of retailers, even ones not listed on the form. They include places like Kohl’s, Kmart, JcPenney, Mineshaft, Noodles, Panera, Piggly Wiggly, Pick N Save, etc. See the form for a list and also go to www.glscrip.com to view hundreds of others. Because we are able to purchase these cards at a discount, we make money selling them for face value.
For example, a $100 Piggly Wiggly card costs us $96. We sell it to you for $100 and we have made $4. You still get $100 to use. These small percentages add up and, over time, the school accumulates thousands of dollars. These funds are used directly for the school to help keep tuition low, marketing, etc.
SCRIP order forms are available in the office, at the back of church, or by clicking here: SCRIP form. Please be aware that the form changes regularly based on retailer availability, so preprinted forms out there may not be the most current.
You may fill it out, total the amounts on the back and include your payment via check or cash, and either have your order filled at any weekend mass at the back of church, drop it off at the school office to be filled when a coordinator comes in (a coordinator will call you when it is ready), or send it to school on Mondays with your child. If received on Monday, the cards will be sent home with your school child that day as long as you have signed a release for us to do so and the cards do not have to be ordered. If we order them, they are typically in by Thursday of that same week. In that case, we send them home Thursday or Friday in your child’s backpack, or we will call you to let you know that the order is ready.
