Membership Guidelines Membership in a parish is by virtue of baptism or a profession in the Roman Catholic faith. The parish can be in one’s territory of residence of personal choice. It is the duty of every adult Roman Catholic, 18 years and older, to register in their parish in order to receive the services the parish offers its members. Having received a Sacrament here, having attended the parish school or religious education programs, or having parents who are registered members does not give the privileges of membership. Each member of the Church must recognize and acknowledge both the rights and the responsibilities that flow from membership. Some of the rights of all members are: to worship God, to receive the spiritual goods of the Church, mainly the Sacraments, the Word, to receive service from the official ministry of the Church, to participate in parish elections, life and mission, to Christian Burial from the parish, and to redress if these rights seen to be violated. Some of the responsibilities of all members are: To be regularly present for Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, to be frequent recipients of the Sacraments, and to participate in parish life through the contribution of personal time an talent to parish programs as well as regular financial gifts toward church support. Mass on the Lord’s Day is the source and expression of our unity in Christ. Scripture records that the early church felt no one should excuse themselves lightly from weekly worship. We give good example and strengthen the faith of others by sharing time in honor of god in Christ and receiving His Body and Blood, Holy Communion, together regularly. Our church will prosper if we choose to be generous and make sacrifices to support it. Time and talent are rich offerings to the welfare of our parish. Regular donations of financial gifts and resources are vital; personal circumstances determine what one’s contributions should be. Please see or call the pastor to register – forms for newcomers to the area are always available near the church doors.
